14. Cattery

We have our own on-site cattery.cat-on-cushion This has been designed to a very high standard with cats needs top of mind. Your inspection is welcome.

AccommodationIndividual or double kennels for accommodation at night, these are made of high quality fibreglass ecatterynsuring maximum cleanliness and warmth. 'Vetbed' (synthetic sheepskin) sleeping mats provide maximum comfort. During the day the cats use the communal indoor/outdoor area. This is fitted with a climbing frame, couches and plenty of places for your cat to laze around. Professional services and grooming can also be provided if required.

Feeding
'Science Diet' or 'Advance' premium biscuits are fed twice daily. The appropriate lifestage food is used. If your cat is on a special diet please discuss this with us so that we can ensure the continuation of your pets individual needs. Prescription foods are available at reception or you can provide your own.

Vaccination
A current up to date annual health check certificate must be produced on admission. This certificate should show that your cat has had a vaccination within the last year. (Ponsonby Veterinary Centre clients do not need to bring in their certificate as the information is in our records.) You will need to have your cat vaccinated before admission if this cannot be demonstrated. All admissions will be wormed and dosed with a suitable flea treatment to prevent a flea problem within the cattery and to ensure all cats are returned home flea free. (If you have your own wormer and flea treatment please bring this with you when your cat is admitted.)

At busy times of the year (Easter and Christmas) it would be worthwhile considering a vaccination 3-4 weeks before admission to boost your cat's immunity, this will reduce the risk of your cat contracting "cat flu" ("snuffles").cattery-mural

We had always managed to swallow the increased cost of staffing over weekends and public holidays. With the introduction of the Holidays Act (which came into force on the 1st April 2004) and the increased staffing costs that this entailed, it became obvious that we could no longer do this.

As a result we have had to introduce a public holiday supplement of $7.50 for each cat. This supplement only applies to the day of the Public Holiday.

The costs of boarding in the cattery are $15.50 for 1 cat and $10.00 for each additional cat per day.

When making a booking for a holiday period a $40.00 deposit is required to confirm your booking. We recommend you book in plenty of time to avoid disappointment.
